Today, we went to see a sculpture called "The Awakening" with our playgroup friends and had such a good time. It is a 100 foot outdoor sculpture of a man awakening out of the ground and has been at Hains Point for 27 years. (It has recently been sold and will soon be moved to National Harbor in Maryland) When I told Alex about today's fieldtrip he had some concerns that he would not enjoy climbing on it because "it will be too slippery. I like climbing on rocks." However, his worries proved to be for nothing and we spent the morning climbing in the mouth, up the arm, hand, and foot, and sliding down the leg. Hains point is where the Anacosta and Potomac rivers converge in southwest DC so we also got to see planes take off over the Potomac and feed the ducks and seagulls. (well, I think they are seagulls - what say you, Dad G?)
