We were in Target the other day when Alex spotted this football snack bowl thing. You push a button and the NFL on Fox theme song plays and the tip of the football hisses open to reveal this tiny goody compartment. Now, I let my kids carry things they find through the store to keep them occupied because they don't ever give me grief about putting whatever it is back when we need to go. So, I am walking up and down the aisles of Target while Alex sits in the basket and pushes this button like a chain smoker smokes. Over and over and over and over. The song was pretty loud and I was starting to get embarrassed. I tell Alex it's time to go, gotta put away the football. His little lip starts to quiver and he tells me he has GOT to get this football thing for his dad. "We'll watch football games and I will put some snacks in the football and I will push the button and dad will be so happy and he will tell all his friends at work that he has a football snack." So I give in. He brings the football home, puts it on the table and covers it with a blanket from his bed so that he can take it off when Jeff gets home from work. "And dad will say, 'Wow, Alex! That's a great football.'" It is no wonder Alex loves his dad so much because Jeff really supports whatever Alex is interested in. See, Jeff isn't really that into football. He likes it, but he isn't into it like some guys are. But Alex was so excited about watching games that Jeff printed out all the team logos (which is how Alex decided the Seahawks were his favorite team) for the playoffs and made up a chart and they cheered the Seahwks to victory. They lost, but Alex would not be convinced, so victory it is. A great dad. They pal around together all the time and it is wonderful to see.

Alex, I have a Seahawks fan in my house too! He was really sad when the Seahawks lost. Better luck next year I guess!
Your mommy's friend,
