Duck Beach

We have amazing friends! The Blacks invited us to join them and some cousins at a beach house in Outer Banks, North Carolina for a 4 day weekend over Memorial Day. It was fabulous and we hope we have the chance to visit Outer Banks again. We spent all of Saturday at the fantastic beach 500 yards from our front door and the water, while cold, was gentle enough for the kids to wade and swim (me, too!). Sunday we went to church and the small chapel was so full, as well as all the rooms and the chair lined hallways, that we actually sat in the foyer along with lots of other folks for Sacrament meeting! Then we headed out to Kitty Hawk and walked the first flight path, hiked to the Monument, and heard an amazing retelling of the Wright's story by a talented ranger. Monday morning was spent flying kites on the boardwalk. Before heading out, we stopped at a roadside diner for Carolina BBQ, which is advertised: Carolina BBQ = pig + vinegar. So sour and sooo yummy. But I loved the South Carolina Mustard sauce best. I didn't get any pictures of the beach (too busy having fun), but here are some of Kitty Hawk and the kites. (p/s isn't my husband dreamy)
